Daysahead

Formed in 2003, Atlanta-based Daysahead continues to chart an innovative musical course that weaves jazz, rock, and soul into a unique, melodic and at times hard-driving sound the band has coined “Jazz-n-Roll.”
Daysahead was born out of a destined partnership between Steve Wright (Richmond, Virginia) and Kim Leachman (Baton Rouge, Louisiana). While performing as electric guitarist and background singer, respectively, for Aezra Records recording artist Crea in Los Angeles, Steve approached Kim to co-write and demo a few of his songs. After one writing session together, the talented duo knew they were on to something special. Steve called up a few musician friends, and the group immediately began recording songs for their debut CD “Turning Point.” The result is a CD that holds true to Kim and Steve’s desire to create an authentic musical legacy that boldly bridges the divide between several musical genres. Since its release, “Turning Point” has received critical acclaim in the U.S. and abroad.
Since the release of “Turning Point,” Daysahead has received continual radio play throughout the USA, Europe and Japan on college radio stations, National Public Radio stations and specialty radio shows. Daysahead was nominated for Best Duo/Group of the year by SoulTracks Readers’ Choice Awards and Best Band & Best Album of the Year by RockWired Awards.
It’s no surprise that Daysahead’s popularity and fan base continue to grow as they tour to promote “Turning Point.” Their energetic, vibrant performances have been featured on “TBS STORYLine Soundstage” television series and they’ve played to enthusiastic audiences at numerous musical festivals including the Atlanta Jazz Festival, National Black Arts Festival, Richmond Fine Arts Music Festival, Bayfest Music Festival and Harborfest.
Daysahead was recently featured on the Capital Jazz SuperCruise (Bermuda) with Earl Klugh, Rachelle Ferrell, Gerald Albright, Will Downing, Patti Austin, Michael Franks, The Brand New Heavies, Ledisi and Fertile Ground. They’ve also opened for national and international recording artists Al Green, Roy Ayers and Angie Stone.
