 Jazz has been a very influential musical genre in many other styles in recent decades. It is important to highlight that jazz is a musical genre that originated in the late 19th century in the United States, and from its origin, it was based on a fusion, a mixture of musical influences from different cultures, including African, European, and Latin American. The fusion of jazz music with different rhythms and genres has given rise to some of the best songs in the history of music. In this note, we will explore some of the main fusions of jazz with folk rhythms, funk, rock, and Latin music.

Angie Wells - "Truth Be Told" Angie Wells, the talented singer and songwriter, delivers a soul-stirring exploration of life's truths in her latest album, "Truth Be Told." Without a doubt, the virtuosity of female instrumentalists and professional jazz singers is now widely respected, as they are the real protagonists of the jazz world. A new wave of powerful female musicians and singers, the "New Jazz Artists," is breathing new life into jazz with greater strength and vigor than ever before. The prominence of women in today's jazz music is increasingly significant, and in my opinion, the female voice is the most appropriate for interpreting a jazz melody. Today's jazz divas are not only exquisite singers but also versatile, powerful, virtuosic instrumentalists and composers, who are asserting themselves in the jazz world.

The Peplowski Project, featuring clarinetist Ken Peplowski, is a mix of jazz standards and three originals by David Larsen. It takes its inspiration from the great straight-ahead jazz albums of the 1950s with arrangements by the great Al Cohn. The album was recorded in June of 2022 at the recording studio at Spokane Falls Community College. All with single takes with semi-isolation. The recording process was done with ribbon mics on the winds with condensers on the piano, bass, and drums. David Larsen hopes you enjoy this album as much as he did planning, playing, and recording it. It’s a next step in his ever-growing discography of tasteful and swinging offerings guaranteed to hook your ear.
